Things, iCal and Address Book
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Personal, Technology, Thoughts on February 3, 2009 | No Comments
Yesterday, while playing around with applications, I wanted to get down everyone’s birthdays so they showed up in iCal. I don’t remember birthdays… I don’t even know how old my parents are But there isn’t a need to remember such things is there? I do give presents etc when I plan some stuff together with Neoneo and maybe Yaoyao. In order to avoid that, I tried to use iCal to remember them.
At first, I tried adding events and repeating them, but then found a better way… activating the birthday calendar. In order for it to work, I needed to add profiles of each...
Lao Lao and my 18th birthday on the same day!
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Family, Food, Personal, Reality Wakeup Calls, Technology, Thoughts on February 1, 2009 | No Comments
OMG I’m officially 18! I can finally go to clubs, and do various other things Well, today I am lucky enough to celebrate my birthday together with Lao Lao, as she uses the lunar calendar for her birthday, while I use the normal calendar, and today happened to be the same day!
I got up and my mum rang to wish me Happy Birthday. I went for a shower, and then my dad called and wished Lao Lao happy birthday too and then me (while I was in the shower lol). Da Yi came early and went out for shopping.
Then people came from Tianjin. Da Yi (Da Da), 3 Yi, Da Jiu (Da Da) and ____, Lao Jiu Ma and Li...
Yang Liu Ching

Last night, Da Yi, Yaoyao and Da Yi Fu came to stay over as we needed to head to Yang Liu Ching early today. It’s on the outskirts of Tianjin. We got on the coach (621) near Tianjin Port Hospital. At first the 621 went down the road and Da Yi Fu was like you ‘just missed the bus! It goes the other day’ and then the coach did a U-turn and came back xD. We got on. It was a bit, well, dirty. People kept coming on and the bus kept stopping, which is why the trip took about 2+ hours… It was so crowded people was standing along the aisles at times. I fell asleep…
When I...
Photobooth!
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Family, Funny/Humour, Personal, Technology, Thoughts on January 30, 2009 | No Comments
While playing around with my Mac and wanted to have some fun with my little sister, I digged around in the Applications folder in hopes of finding some application to take photos with the inbuilt eyesight camera. Guess what I found? Photobooth!
Photobooth uses the inbuilt camera and you are able to use many effects (thermo, sepia, b/w, x-ray) as well as warping, like what I have on my Sony Ericsson phone (Facewarp) where it distorts your face in many various shapes to look like weird aliens and creatures. It also has this cool scene feature where you are able to set pre existing backgrounds or...
Ads. In threes!
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Entertainment/Media, Personal, Thoughts on January 30, 2009 | No Comments
I noticed this last time I came to China but forgot to write about it.
Here, for commercials, they repeat it 3 times in a row. Maybe it has something to do with the mind remembering in threes. (Oh dang there we go, another ad that’s repeated three times). It’s so annoying. xD. Why not play it once and then after a few different ads? You have a habit of speaking along with the ad since it’s so etched into your mind. Wait, that’s what it’s meant to do.
Macbook Pro’s glass glossy screen - the truth
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Technology, Thoughts on January 30, 2009 | No Comments
Well, not really the truth, but my own personal opinion.
I’ve heard many comments from various other people, saying that the new Aluminum Macbook range have a very glossy screen that is equivalent to a mirror when used in daylight or under light indoors.
Maybe it’s because of the lights here, but I see no reflection, and love the wide glass screen. It’s bright (thanks to LED) and is very, very clear! (I don’t like matte, but I’m not a designer). Sure if you intentionally look at the light on the roof through your screen to see if it show, then duh of course it...
Electricity in China
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Family, Featured Articles, Personal, Thoughts on January 29, 2009 | 2 Comments
Well today, while I was playing on my new Macbook Pro the internet disconnected. Looking at the router, I noticed that there were no blinking green lights.
Oh no, it’s busted?
I mean, my Macbook was still on… Then I thought, oh! It’s running on battery! So I tried opening the lights but nothing happened. Thank goodness it’s just a power cut!
I woke up my Grandma, as I thought that some power socket must have overloaded or something… and she told me that maybe it was because the electricity was all used up.
Electricity was all used up?
How could electricity be used...
Chinese New Year!
Posted by admin in China Dec 08 - Feb 09!, Entertainment/Media, Family, Featured Articles, Personal, Thoughts on January 26, 2009 | No Comments
OMG OMG OMG this is so hectic and exciting! Crackers and fireworks are being lit off as we speak as we approach 2009 according to the Chinese calendar!
I’ve been lucky enough to experience this first hand this year, after finishing Year 13 of Grammar School, and spending this vacation with relatives in China!
OMG I can’t hear my thoughts. Big BOOMS outside. When my uncle rang from Indonesia, I couldn’t even hear what he was speaking! It’s that loud!
In the morning, at 5am, my Da Jiu Ma, came with Grandpa’s ashes. It had needed to be before sunrise. My little sister...
