I got my Macbook Pro!

So after a years worth of planning, nagging and saving, I have finally managed to get hold of my Aluminum Macbook Pro!

I got the higher end model (2.53Ghz model) as I wanted it to be able to be used for about 4-5 years and wanted to future-proof it. Plus, I heard Slow Leopard will be coming out (OpenCL?) so the extra graphics memory etc will help when it is used for day to day applications too. I’m glad I got the ADC Student developers membership too, so hopefully I’ll get it for free when it comes out like with what they did with Tiger and Leopard.

Basically I got a family friend to get it over at Hong Kong, so with the ADC discount, I got it about $1200 bucks cheaper than the retail here, which is like 900USD xD. He bought the boxes etc as well across to China, so I was able to unbox it myself.

My lovely Aunty and my cousin went to Tianjin station to get it for me… THANK YOU! They went at around 9am and got the laptop from them at around 1pm. They came back in the afternoon and when I heard the door, oh my!

I woke up at 6am as I needed to get the family friend’s mobile as he came from Hong Kong to Beijing…

Anyway, I got it and left it on the bed for like 8 hours. Yeah, you’re probably like WTF open it apart already! But I didn’t. I was a little paranoid about getting it scratched with my nails and all xD. A Macbook is a work of art right?

So I fired it up after going to my Aunty’s house to have fireworks (can’t have it outside here because my Grandpa has not passed away for 3 years yet… custom) so when I came back my Aunty told me to open it.

First thing I did was open the lid up. Magnetic… yum! Since it was form HK, the socket is different. So I got my iPod socket and put it onto the Magsafe. It works! (Thanks Apple!)

Loaded it up, went through the setup, loved the animation in the beginning, although the trackpad didn’t work so I put on a mouse (which was a little annoying). I thought it crashed but I had to use a mouse as keyboard didn’t work… -_-. It got stuck during the setup lol.

Then installed waited till it updated itself and installed iWork 09.

I love the mutitouch functions! Four finger Exposé! It’s so awesome!

I also love how the laptop using the webcam to sense daylight and it adjusts the screen brightness accordingly. All these small features make it so awesome!

Windows 7 64bit beta anyone?
